P.E.A.C.E. of Mind Counseling services seeks to provide clients and the community at large with services and information on mental wellness. Hence, the acronym P.E.A.C.E. standing for Personal Empowerment through Analysis, Counseling, and Education.
Counseling sessions are 45 to 50 minutes in length and we use a Cognitive Behavioral approach towards guiding clients through the problem solving process. Cognitive Behavioral theory asserts that our thoughts, or cognitions, influence our feelings, and our feelings influence our behavior. By working to change our negative and limiting thoughts, we can change those negative and limiting feelings that block us from behaving in healthy and productive ways. A variety of techniques are used in the process of changing cognitions and trying out new ways of behaving and reacting, which include relaxation, mindfulness, guided imagery and distraction techniques in addition to talk therapy.
